LABET

Domaine Labet, located in Rotalier, in the southern part of the Côtes du Jura AOC, is a benchmark for lovers of Jura wines that are precise, vibrant and deeply rooted in their terroir. A pioneer of "ouillée" vinification (without veil) in the region, the domaine embodies a free and demanding vision of Jura wine, halfway between local tradition and contemporary expressions of indigenous grape varieties.

The domaine was founded in the 1970s by Alain and Josie Labet, before being joined in the 2000s by their children: Julien, Charline and Romain. This new generation has instilled an ambitious dynamic, based on respect for the soil, the diversity of terroirs, and a thorough parcel-by-parcel approach.

Julien Labet, who has also run his own domaine since 2003, has made a major contribution to the reputation of Jura wines in France and abroad, promoting the pure, taut expressions of Chardonnay, Savagnin, Pinot Noir, Trousseau and Poulsard.

The Domaine Labet vineyard extends over 13 hectares, mostly planted with Chardonnay on a variety of clay-limestone, grey and blue marl soils typical of the Revermont region of the Jura. Each plot is worked with extreme care, respecting the living world:

- Certified organic farming
- Manual work
- Respect for natural rhythms
- And limited use of inputs

Vineyard management aims to stimulate soil microbial life, preserve biodiversity and encourage optimal grape ripeness, without ever forcing nature.

Domaine Labet is best known for its "ouillés" white wines: cuvées matured without yeast veil, in contrast to the traditional oxidative styles of the Jura. The result is wines of great purity, marked by mineral tension, energy and a remarkable transparency of terroir.

The range is structured around a rigorous parcel-by-parcel approach, with emblematic cuvées such as :

- Fleur de Marne
- Les Varrons
- En Chalasse
- La Bardette
- Or wetted Savagnin cuvées such as Les Écrins

At the same time, the domaine also produces a number of racy reds, including fine, taut Pinot Noirs, expressive Trousseaux and gourmet Poulsards, all with the same philosophy of gentle, natural winemaking.

In the cellar, fermentations are spontaneous (indigenous yeasts), maturation is long (often 12 to 24 months), and the wines are neither fined nor filtered. The use of sulfur is minimal or non-existent, depending on the cuvée. The aim is clear: to let the wine express itself without make-up, in all its truth.

Each bottle of Domaine Labet wine reflects an artisanal, parcel-by-parcel approach that favors balance, emotion and a direct link to its place of origin.

Today,Domaine Labet has established itself as a major player in the revival of the Jura, acclaimed for its goldsmith's work on terroirs, its elegant and sincere wines, and its contribution to the influence of a vineyard that is still too often overlooked. A must for lovers of lively, well-crafted wines with a strong sense of identity.
