BODEGA CHACRA

Grandson of the illustrious Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, Piero discovered Mainqué Pinot Noir at a wine tasting. This triggered his desire to settle in this region of Argentina and create red wine. Piero Incisa della Rocchetta took over an estate in Patagonia in 2004 and created Bodega Chacra. At first, the winemaker produced only Pinot Noir. Then he entered into a partnership with Jean-Marc Roulot. The latter joined him at Bodega Chacra to develop Chardonnay on the estate. In the Río Negro valley, Piero cultivates his vines with the greatest respect for nature. All his bottles are certified organic and biodynamic.

Location of Domaine Bodega Chacra

Domaine Bodega Chacra is located in Mainqué, Argentina, in the heart of Patagonia, more precisely in the Río Negro valley. Piero Incisa della Rocchetta operates a 24-hectare estate in the green belt of this arid region. The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines benefit from plenty of sunshine, rare rain and warm, dry winds. Bodega Chacra lies on the path of an irrigation canal created by the British in the 19th century. This allows Piero and Jean-Marc to perfectly control the water supply to their vines.

The wines of Domaine Bodega Chacra

Bodega Chacra produces five bottles of Pinot Noir and two of Chardonnay. The estate's wines are pure, with a flowery nose and great minerality. Among the reds is a wine for ageing par excellence, vinified from the estate's oldest vines, called Treinta y Dos. Pinot Noir Sin Azufre is an experimental wine made by Piero. The red wine list is completed by bottles of Cincuenta y Cinco, Lunita and Barda. As for white wines, Bodega Chacra offers two cuvées simply named Chacra and Mainqué.
