Discreet and wise, that's how you could describe the Monthelie appellation, located between Volnay and Meursault! Discreet, because it's true that with such illustrious neighbors, who tantalize the palates of Burgundy connoisseurs, Monthelie has not yet acquired the renown it deserves. This is wise, because although the wines here are less expensive overall, Monthelie's plots benefit from excellent southern and eastern exposure and a great geological similarity with Volnay and Meursault! Monthelie, "the little mountain", dominates the Auxey-Duresses and Meursault valleys with its... 361-meter high peak! Yes, that's what we call a mountain in Burgundy!

This small appellation of around 130 hectares is home to some fifteen winemakers, including Florent Garaudet, a thirty-something winemaker with a strong character and boundless energy! He's fighting to make the most of his terroir, and has produced a magnificent cuvée from six ouvrées of 60-year-old vines pampered by judicious ageing: Cuvée Mons Helios 2017, which cultivates the balance between the finesse of a Volnay and the body of a Pommard! Of course, this Monthelie-based winemaker produces whites and reds from Monthelie and a number of neighboring appellations that are a must-try!
