DAMOY PIERRE

Domaine Pierre Damoy was founded in 1922. It is located in the heart of Burgundy, in Gevrey-Chambertin. The winemaking tradition has been handed down from father to son. Pierre Damoy is nicknamed Monsieur Chambertin because of the location of his plots. He farms parcels of both Chambertin and Chapelle-Chambertin. He also vinifies Grand Cru wines such as Clos de Bèze. Passionate and demanding, he bottles only the very best wines. Concentrated on a small surface area of just ten hectares, this estate is rich in renowned parcels: nearly 8 hectares are classified as Grand Cru.

Geographical location of Domaine Pierre Damoy

Gevrey-Chambertin, in Burgundy, is a highly historic place when it comes to wine. It was here that the first Gallo-Roman vines were discovered. Clos-de-Bèze is one of the oldest clos viticoles in France. This terroir seems to have always lent itself to the production of white and red Burgundy wines. Domaine Pierre Damoy is part of this long tradition. The estate has preserved a very old vineyard in Chapelle-Chambertin. The soil is predominantly clay or clay-limestone.

Domaine Pierre Damoy wines

Domaine Pierre Damoy grows mainly Pinot Noir vines. It produces 40,000 bottles per vintage. Domaine Pierre Damoy has produced mainly Grands Crus for many vintages. Domaine Pierre Damoy cultivates 8 of its 10.5 hectares of Grands Crus. The main appellations are : Chambertin, Chapelle-Chambertain and Chambertin-Clos-de-Bèze. Vintage after vintage, the reputation for excellence of these red wines is confirmed.

The quality of Domaine Pierre Damoy's other appellations is not in question, however. In fact, Pierre Damoy has been cultivating his vines differently for some years now. The Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Tamisot, classified as a Village, still enjoys an excellent reputation. The domaine also produces organic red Burgundy wines and a white Burgundy wine, Les Ravry, made from Chardonnay.
