CHÂTEAU ANGÉLUS
Price €930.00 150 cl

Overlooked by the three churches of Saint-Emilion, Château Angelus is a wine estate covering almost 50 hectares. The Château takes its name from the vineyard's geographical location, halfway between the Chapelle de Mazerat, Saint-Emilion and Saint-Martin, from where the Angelus can be heard ringing in the bell towers.

In 1782, Jean de Boüard settled in Saint-Emilion, and since then, 8 generations have succeeded one another. In 1955, when the very first classification of Saint-Emilion wines was published, Maurice de Boüard was rewarded with the rank of Grand Cru Classé. Today, this 8th generation is represented by Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, the third woman at the helm of the estate, who always keeps in mind her forebears' goal: to serve the greatness of Angelus.

Geographical location of Château Angelus

The vineyard is located in a natural amphitheater. The climate is oceanic. The soil is naturally drained by a clay-limestone slope. This ensures a regular supply of minerals and water to the soil. The planting of grape varieties varies according to the soil. The Merlots are planted on the most clayey slopes, while the Cabernet Francs are located on sandy-clay-limestone soils.

Château Angelus wines

The Château Angelus winery is equipped with the most modern facilities to produce wines of unparalleled precision: harvest reception with optical sorting, a vinification vat room, a cellar dedicated to malolactic fermentation and, since 2019, an ageing cellar. Wines are aged for an average of 20 months. Bottling takes place at the Château, an average of 24 months after the harvest.

Elegance, tradition, modernity and high standards are the hallmarks of Château d'Angelus wines
