Domaine Massaya was originally a family estate owned by the Ghosn family in Lebanon. Forced to leave their land to escape the civil war, the Ghosn family returned in 1992. The Ghosn brothers set about restoring the property to its former glory, with the aim of turning it into a renowned wine estate. They enlisted the help of French winemakers: Bordeaux specialist Dominique Hébrard and the Brunier family from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. While the estate benefits from the know-how imported from France, Sami and Ramzi Ghosn are above all committed to creating wines that are representative of the terroir of their country, Lebanon.

Geographical location of Domaine Massaya

Domaine Massaya comprises two vineyards. The first historic vineyard is located in Tanaïl, in the heart of Lebanon's Beqaa Valley. In 2014, the Ghosn brothers acquired a new winery located in Faqra. They developed vineyards in the foothills of Mount Lebanon, at an altitude of over 1,000 meters. At Tanaïl, grape production is dedicated to red and rosé wines. The grape varieties grown are : Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Obeïdi. At Faqra, Vermentino, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Clairette and Roussanne are grown. The soils are clayey and chalky, the light intense and the heat constant.
